Apple’s AirPods are already a hit. They sold out almost immediately after Apple started taking preorders last week, and people even lined up in front of Apple retail stores on Monday to buy them. Users seem to be happy with Apple’s first pair of truly wireless headphones, according to various online reviews.
But how durable are the AirPods? After all, Apple already has programs in place meant to deal with battery issues and other problems, hinting that you might run into some troubles with your AirPods down the road.
Unofficial tests performed by users who purchased the new Apple headphones seem to indicate the AirPods are practically indestructible. As 9to5Mac reports, the AirPods have survived everything that’s been thrown at them.
The AirPods still work after being dropped from 10 feet, and after being submerged in water. They work even after they’ve gone through a full washing machine cycle. After all, that’s one likely scenario for any pair of headphones, not just the AirPods.
It’s YouTube channel EverythingApplePro that performed the all of tests mentioned above, recording everything on video.
The AirPods were dropped from various heights, both on their own, and in their protective case, and they’re still able to offer the same sound experience as before the experiments were conducted. Mind you, these are not scientific tests. But what matters is that the AirPods will take quite a beating before failing.
This doesn’t mean you should be careless with your AirPods, or that your pair will survive any abuse such as water torture. However, the tests seem to indicate the AirPods won’t break as easily as some people might expect them to.
